Truck stop in Bremerhaven

04/06/2014

For the fourth time Strako Strahlarbeiten und Korrosionsschutz GmbH has been hosting the fishing port exhibition on their company site. On 16th May more than 45 exhibitors attracted with their offers, new products and career information at the technical event, which is growing year by year.
The fishing port exhibition which was organized by managing director Holger Bartels, is not a usual trade show but should network companies and institutions of the region with each other and encourage visitors, old or young, in joining and experiencing. In the morning many students and pupils took the opportunity to inform themselves about education, occupation possibilities and internship at the company stands.
The broad spectrum of exhibitors ranges from operations out of the fishing port and companies from the surrounding region over car dealerships, job centers and the University of Bremerhaven to local hunting association, manufacturer of teddy bears and fish processing and delicatessen suppliers. The many diverse companies enabled interesting and versatile adventure activities on the outdoor area. Here intrepid visitors could be lifted up with a crane into a height of 50 meters, took part in a fire fighter training, watched the industrial climbers and could master an obstacle course with an forklift.

Applus RTD was inspired by this year’s motto and joined the fishing port exhibition for the first time. The leading service provider presented itself on the outside area of Strako GmbH in the modern Applus RTD promotion truck. “We presented at the comfortable exhibition space a small selection of our current techniques from the fields of non-destructive testing and inspection and demonstrated the advantages and application possibilities of our mobile exhibition room”, explained Eike Lindau, Regio Manager from North Germany. Because of its flexible use, whether you use it as exhibition area, training or meeting room, and its mobility, further operations of the vehicle at customer sites are in planning.

The focus of interest for the port area was mainly on our inspection systems in the field of ultrasonic and eddy current for determining corrosion damage and steel engineering components onshore and offshore. Here the screening tool Incotest based on eddy current and magnetic flux leakage convinced by its property to determine corrosion and erosion damages on ferritic material like isolated pipelines or sheet pilling. This system enables a rapid and reliable measurement on wall thicknesses from 6 – 65 mm and pipe diameters from 65 DN, prior cleansing activities or grinding operations are not required.

As a special highlight at the interactive exhibition the visitors of our truck were able to perform an inspection via ultrasonic at a metal plate and they could catch up themselves with a thermography camera – where the picture was shown live on a flat screen.
